Kindness Bags

After a group of students from Portsmouth High School handed Charles a kindness bag and spent a few moments chatting with him, he responded, “Thank you! You made my day. No, you made my week.” Charles’s comment says it all.

What Goes in a Kindness Bag? Here are some ideas.

• Gift Cards - $10-$20 Dunkins, CVS, Walgreens, McDonalds, etc. (Gift cards are always a favorite. They allow someone experiencing homelessness to walk into a store for their needs just like anyone else.)

• New Socks

• Kleenex, wet wipes, band aids

• Good Quality snacks/candy - Non nut bars, fruit snacks, Goldfish, Tootsie Pops, etc.

• Seasonal - gloves, hats, hand warmers, sunscreen, etc.

• Homemade cookies or other treats

• Other options - travel size toothbrush/paste, lotion, etc.
